How do I attach and use the displays with the I2C protocol? Can it be connected to any existing port on my PC? What modifications do I have to do to get it to work?

And what about connecting multiple displays on the same cable? eg. one display in the kitchen, one in the living room, one in the bedroom etc. (I'm planning a music-central for my house)

I guess that I can display individual text on each display (some index-number?), even if they are on the same cable?

I2C is a totally different protocol the RS232. 99% of all motherboards do not have a I2C bus available or present.

I2C controller

The main nice thing about I2C is the ability to connect up to 127 displays (all the ones with a memory chip, otherwise 16) to the same 2-wire connection. To connect multiple LCD to a computer you will have to use multiple serial ports, you can get serial port add on cards. But connecting several LCD on the same cable to display the same thing... I have never thought about that or tried it.

I checked around on the net for anything about I2C, and I found that there are sites that have some solution for getting I2C to work on a serial or parallel port.

I'm not sure if I got it right, but it seems to me that you can use a parallel or serial port instead of a real I2C port..

I will continue surfin'

I'm not sure if these pages contain what I think (I did not understand to 100% what they meant), but you can take a look and may you can say what's going on

And

The latter did not contain any valid images, so I'm not sure this page contained what I was looking for..
