GPO "connectors"

Post by vveakling »

I'm looking for someplace that sells like, a 2 pin connector that fits nicely onto the GPOs and also a 10 pin connector that fits on the keypad. I'm not sure what they're called. Pin headers maybe? basically what you would find on the end of a computer power led to connect onto the motherboard. I would really rather not solder directly onto the lcd. anyone have any tried ant tested solutions? know where i could maybe buy online? radioshack didnt seem to have what i needed. thanks

I always use salvaged 1x2 connectors from AT cases that have gone to the boneyard. I don't know of a good source for them new though (probably because I've not been especially motivated to look). Head to your local PC shop and see what you can talk them out of.

Now if you're willing to pay too much. and don't mind an LED attached, then there are a few alternatives:

http://www.directron.com/blueled.html
and so on.

Here's a really nice 1x10 for ya: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/c ... type=store

well, those aren't exactly esoteric items, maybe your local house has them? But I don't know where you are, so it's tough for me to speculate...

Try www.farnell.com They have these connectors. Here are some partnumbers:
Housing 2-way 865-606
Housing 3-way 865-618
Contacts 865-795

They also have 10-way and 2x6 connectors, I just don't know the partnumbers atm.

Why don't you post your city and maybe somone can give you a name of a shop in your city.
I live in Toronto and have found a shop that have old AT LED's with wires that worked for the GPO and the keypad.

www.jameco.com has exactly what you need. Look at this catalog page for the part numbers. http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/Products/ProdCT/p100.pdf Hopefully that helps.
