Does anyone know if the LCD4041-EL works with lcdproc? I live in Norway and really want to purchase this display. I don't know if any of the distributors have it though.

Don't you have the opportunity to test it with lcdproc?

How can I purchase this display when I live in Norway?

None of the computers in the office run Linux, nor do I know how to use it. You might want to try the LCDProc mailing list. They generaly are full of good anwsers. Here is the closest distributor to you..

Lawicel
Klubbgatan 3
SE-282 32 Tyringe, Sweden
Telephone: +46 0 451 598 77
Facsimile: +46 0 451 598 78
Email: info@lawicel.com

if they do not have what you are looking for you can always buy directly from us over our e-commerce, shipping is generaly 2-3 days and costs about $19USD.

Henry; do you have a picture of the blue display?

It would be cool if anyone here could confirm if the 4041-display works with lcdproc. The lcdproc-mailinglist is dead.

the glare looking stuff is the plastic film over the glass to protect it during shipping and in house here...

I think I have one more, I will need to dig first.

Yes lcdproc supports 40x4, per their FAQ. I haven't got a 40x4 myself so don't consider that a sworn statement.

Yes, it's oceam blue, it's a blue EL light in the back and green glass giving it this look. To get real deep blue is hard, contrast becomes a issue unless the display is inverted, and then it just doesn't look that good. The problem is the blue wave lenghts get bsorbed by the LCD polymer where green wave lengths do not, giving it a real nice contrast in color.
