HP GPO problems

Post by SoJoS »

No luck with the High power gpo's of my LK204-24-USB rev. 1.0.
The only thing I do is spend more and more money and still having problems.
I let my lcd run without anything connected on the hp gpo's, it run perfectly for weeks.
Then I tried a new fan (different brand) with shielded wire, after 16 ours or so the back light went off.
Had to restart the pc to be able to use the lcd again, after 6 ours the back light went of again.
Disconnected it and all is perfect again.
The last thing I can do is try fans without extension, but I can't do that in my case, I have to get it all out, I really need extensions.
I notice a difference in wirering, but can't get it to work stable.
The thing that anoyes me the most is that I got THIS device becourse of the bay-bus function.

I also had another problem, I (the lcd ?) killed 2 CCFL converters !?

I attached my converter, started the pc and....dead.
Bought a new set, tested it on my PSU, connected to my LCD and....dead.
Fortunately I was able to exchange the last one for a new set, withs hangs on my PSU now.
The converters are sealed, I broke one open to find there's a fuse (I think) on the print thats blown.
I used Sunbeam CCFL's. http://www.sunbeamtech.com/
I checkt over and over again to see if I made a mistake with polaritie/short but that's fine.
It's not that I blame the lcd, but I don't want to risk a third converter.

Maybe it's more praktical and cheaper if you can tell me what works stable for you (MO).
For now I just want to enjoy my somewhat expensive but beautiful LCD.
I bought my first car last week so my PC budget and time is on a hold for now :D

What types of fans are you running?
(Do they draw more then 1 amp)

On the CCFL's are you using PWM outputs on the HPO?
CCFL inverters do NOT like PWM voltage, they are not designed to run off lower then +12volts. (Basicly you can't dim most CCFLs without damange)

I am having the same problem. My backlight keeps turning off on its own. I can't figure it out.

The fans power consumption is not the problem, it's only about 0,15 A
Cooler Master en GlacialTech 80mm fans
I've tried all sort off things, started half November, my last attempt was shielded extension wires, although it runs better it's still unstable.

About the inverter, I only connected the powerlines. When the lcd powers up (after boot) all outputs seem to get power for a short moment. This was the only and last time I saw them lit.
