I've been playing with a cool little 3D program called Terragen ( Download Here). Terragen is essentially a landscape generation program that is freeware, yet manages to output some rather vivid images.

Here's a sample of what I recently rendered. Feel free to post comments.

OK, I never said it was truely realistic, but yeah, guess you are right there.

Hey GuruX, I didn't mean to stomp on your rendering, I was just teasing.

Yeah, it's a lot of fun. There's something godlike about making terrain.
Like software-powered planet modding.

I haven't tried any of the plugins or anything--the base prog is complicated enough. There's a good tutorial here if anyone following along gets inspired and wants to try it out.

wow, that looks real good. that second one looks VERY real. looks a lot better then when i messed with Bryce.

The major problem I had with Bryce is that it would crash all the time. How stable is it?
