MOS AL 162 Stopped Displaying Text

Hi,
I have a MOS-AL-162A that I've been using for a while in the same configuration that it's in now. After accidentally leaving it connected to the UART on my arduino board while it was being programmed, the screen was filled with junk characters and some of the settings were changed. The display still responds to commands such as contrast and brightness changes, but these changes are not remembered when the power is reset, and more importantly, it can't display text anymore.

Is there any way to save it? Is it possible to just turn it into a parallel screen by removing the additional board with the atmel chip on it?

Thanks in advance

Hi DK,

I can honestly say I have no clue as to what is going on. Can you please list the exact configuration of your MOS, and if possible post the hardware information for your Arduino board (Schematics would be perfect).

I'll take a look at everything and see if I can't figure out whats up.

Hi,

It sounds like you have overwritten the EEPROM settings.

If you send me an email at support@matrixorbital.ca I can then reply to you there what we call the memchip file which is the default settings for the display module.

I think I have the same problem. Can you please send me the file, too?

Thanks, Ohad.

Hi Ohad,

I sent you the memchip file via our ticket system.

Thank you and Best Regards,

Hi,

I have a similar problem with a MOS AL162 that i bought 3 years ago. I just got around to using it and it worked fine for an hour or so but then it stopped responding to input. Not even contrast settings like the OP's situation. It just continually displays some of the text it was sent but won't respond to new input.

I tried the manual override procedure as detailed in the manual and the text disapears but when i remove the jumpers it just reappears.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
