programming MOP-AL204A-BBTR as standalone

Post by Adrianb » Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:53 am

i was wondering if anyone could help with a (hopefully) simple query.
I was looking through the vast array of displays on the website for a 4 line display and came across model no MOP-AL204A-BBTR I was wondering, is it possible to configure/program this display, then use as a standalone unit that could monitor, say, 2 separate temperatures, plus voltage and current?

Also, is this above possible on all the displays?

Kind regards
Adrian

No that won't be possible you always need something that tells the display what to display.

Ah, i see. So i can only use it in conjunction with a PC?

Not neccacary a PC, a little microcontroller would do as well many of our customers use somthing else then a PC.

on a sidenote the MOP displays cannot be hooked up directly to a PC since they are parallel displays and thus require a bunch of IO lines to drive them something a PC can't provide, our serial and usb line of products work without difficulties on a PC..

Thanks Ray,
Basically, i'm looking to mount an lcd to a laser projector to display 2 separate temperatures, plus voltage and current.
Could you recommend a (non pc) display and microcontroller that can be customised for this purpose.
cheers

Could be any microcontroller (pic/atmega/nxp lpc series/etc/etc) you are comfortable with all you need is a uart for our serial models or a bunch of free io pins for the mop series. If you are not comfortable with any of them and do decide to have a go at it i suggest using one of our serial models since they much easier to get started with.

We could design a custom module for you that does exactly what you want but there will be significant moq, if you are interested in this please contact sales@matrixorbital.ca with your specifications.
