Looking int buying one of these...

just a few ?'s.

Can I navigate through MP3's, start, stop, etc. in winamp with the keys included in this kit and the software that's available around the internet?

Also, can this unit be powered off of the serial port?

We do not make the software to do this but do offer it from our website. Jo from Borderfield makes it. It's located here...

The unit has a seperate power connector which will connect into your power supply.

I would like to mount this display remotely from my computer. That's why I'm wondering if I can get power from the serial cable to power the display. Otherwise, I'll find a wall wart to power it.

Well... If you use pin #9 of the serial cable and give it +5V and make a small solder jumper by the DB-9 connector you will have no problems powering the display through the serial cable. You just HAVE to make sure it's ONLY +5V now and do not use the power connector on the LCD.

onder the DB-9 connector, is a small solder jumper pad, solder it and then the unit will use power from the DB-9 connector.
