How do you find a motherboard with more USB power? I need to find a motherboard with USB ports that provide more than the standard 500ma of power - I don't even know where to look for this info in a motherboard spec. How would I search for these?

Hi Rolling Stone,

I will of course suggest that you do your own research to confirm, but I believe the maximum current for a USB 2.0 output is 500mA, however, it looks like USB 3.0 may go as high as 900mA.

If you are planning to use one of our displays, you will find that most units will power up even on a USB 2.0 connection. For those displays that may draw a little more current (VFDs in particular) you'll find a header on board that will connect to a standard floppy power cable from your PC supply. Check out your manual for more info on power consumption and available headers.

Thanks,
~Troy
