Ok...I've got the itch to put an LCD into my new Lian-Li PC-70...because I have 4 free 5.25" bays just waiting to be modded...at the minimum I want to put in a Serial 20x4 Backlit Character LCD...Now I'm thinking I want some graphics...compared to standard Serial LCDs where a lot of programs are available to program them...how hard is it to program Graphical LCDs for regular characters and graphics? I'm gonna be writing up a Guide on how to do this for Virtual-Hideout.net.

Please note: I am a n00b to LCDs...Case Modding on the other hand...well...let's just say I'm one of the Hideout Gawds...

Hey...

Programing for a graphic LCD is a little harder then for alphanumeric units. But, you can do much much more with graphic units...

As for pre-made software... It's more limited then for alphanumetic units. But there is allot of development happening. We have Jo and his LCDcenter 2.0 which supports the graphic lcds

and we have OddOne and his Crystalline. (it is coming out very soon, just getting rid of some final bugs)

I hope this helps you out, please ask if you need anything else.

on the other hand, if you have an alphanumeric module and you want to put a "F" on the screen, you just say "F". If you have a Matrix Orbital graphic display and you want an "F" on the screen, you just say "F". Same thing. We take care of most of the abstraction for you. The parts that are the same are just as easy, it is only the more advanced features that are harder.
