Using the Winamp EQ for Windows Sound

Post by Jon »

If you want to display an EQ on your MX2/4/5/6 for any sound being played in windows then your in luck the following is a quick tutorial on how to configure winamp, and LCDC to display an EQ for any sound being played through your sound card.

1. Download and install Winamp Basic, be sure to install the full version, in order to get the linein plugin.

NOTE: When installing ensure that the "Extra Audio Output/Effect Support" -> "Line Input Support" checkbox is checked. You may remove other options to suit your preference. Most notibly on the "Choose Install Options " screen you may want to unclick the "eMusic Icon and Offer for 50 Free MP3s!" and "Get Active Security Monitor - it's FREE!" options.

2. Download and install LCDC
3. Download the Winamp2 plugin, and copy the files into the Winamp/plugins directory
4. Open LCDC and click Configure/Test
5. Click Plugin Selection, and then on the right side make sure that the winamp2 plugin is checked.
6. Go back to the main menu.
7. Click Screen Builder
8. Select the various screens you would like LCDC to display
9. Go back to the main screen and click "start display"
10. Open winamp
11. Right click Winamp, Mouse over the play option then click "Url..." or press CTRL + L
12. Type: linein:// in the URL and then hit open
13. Open the windows volume control, and go to options, properties, recording and select the line that you wish winamp to monitor.... And then Vola the EQ will display for any sound playing in windows.
