distance between PC and MX-series

Hey all,

I'm new to the LCD-VFD topic and have a little question.
First let me explain what i want to use the LCD-VFD for:
I want to create my own Domotica project at home and want' to control the temperature and music in each room (and maybe some other stuff in the future) I want to control this from 1 central point (probably touch-TFT) and ofcourse in every room seperatly. this is where the LCD-VFD comes into play.
Now my first question (of manny probably) is:
- Is there a limitation to the distance that there can be between a USB display and the PC (preferebly USB, because i don't have 6 serial ports on my PC) and if there is, how can you overcome this?

regards,

Davy

The limitation is 16 feet. No idea how you could overcome it, but I think it is possible.

Hello...

The only conceivable way to overcome this would be is you had a self powered hub adding an additional 16 feet to your overall distance! :D

I think there are also other products around which can extend the range of USB connections...I know Lindy used to do one...

Hey guys,

thanks for the help allready,

Is there anny other series or means of connection that can cover more then 16 feet?
I think the maximum distance I need is about 50 feet if I use 1 PC on the ground floor.
If I use more PC's (1 per floor) I ofcourse can shorten the distance.

regards,

Davy

Serial works
Suppose you'd have to get lots of PCI serial controllers?

You can always use an USB extender, but just to warn yah, it's not cheap...
