I would first assume that since it knows how to blink, it also probably limits it's own current. I would further assume that 20mA would be enough to drive it. A lot of assuming, but if true, then you could probably replace one of the GPO output resistors with a piece of wire and hook up the blinking...

Like Stig says, that's the only way. The key scan works by making the previously grounded pins high one at a time to find out which one is making the previously high pin to be now low. So, you *must* short two pins together. An analog switch attached to the TTL input which connects a column and a ro...

Seems like it would work fine... Depends on if you can make it not bitch about ACKs and stuff. Maybe I didn't read the question - why USB to I2C?

Yeah, exactly. What he said.

Plus, a bit of "I don't know". Henry has data he could look up in a file, but he asked me to post anyway, so...

The techs don't know an Atom from Adam, and neither do I. However, I am fairly sure that 0x5c is 01011100 and not 01010000. Seriously, please read the specification provided by the only people qualified to write one - Philips. I am sure that Henry can provide a link if you find that google.com canno...

If you are just displaying and not controlling, then the GLK12232 would be the sexy choice. I love mine with LCDC. Of course, the LK204-PC has a real nice blue backlight... <sigh>

Yes, that other thread is excellent information that I had forgotten about! I actually thought it was GPO4 or 5 that was on at powerup... Whichever one it is, it is always the same, but the rest will be off at powerup. As for these resistors, it sounds like Henry did not quite understand the questio...

I have not looked at it well, but right off, I would say that your transisters are "backwards". The GPO switches TO ground - it is open collector. If you want to use NPN transisters, you will need to provide pull-up resistors. Also, you need current limiting resistors on each of the bases ...

You are correct - that is not what you should be seeing. Please endeavor to try the same sort of thing with RS-232 first to make sure that the values that the unit is TRYING to send back are as expected. If so, then you can try to discover why you are not getting that. The RS-232 and I2C use exactly...

Just to answer the issue about individual pixel brightness. The answer is "not likely". You have to understand that they work very much like a CRT or a TV in the sense that there is an electron source and that the electrons are accelerated to smash into phosphors which then glow. There is ...
