It depends on your LED's but using http://www.bit-tech.net/article/68/ I get a resistor value of around 400 ohms for your average LED - so 580 should have been fine. You need to wire the resistor in series i.e. one resistor leg to a gpo pin, the other to an led pin and then the final led pin to the ...

Yep you need the invertor, the CCFL needs ~500-1000VAC to drive it and you won't get this from the GPO ;)

i think u can set it to on using lcdc. in the configuration of GPO there is a on option at start and on at exit all 6 gpo's. Am using a 202 usb MX 222. Yes of course you can, but that won't turn them on when you switch your computer on. THe issue is if you are using the GPO's to control system vita...

Sad to hear :(

Maybe you shorted something by mistake? Very hard to understand how the low power levels a GLK uses could smoke anything :-?

Can you take a piccie of the damage?

You can of course use a little bit of electronics to invert the default GPO state, but with high power GPO's it's a little bit of a pain (using solid state at least, clearly you could use relays too).

Dodgy serial cable would explain it (maybe you bought a null modem cable?) - LCDC uses flow control with the GLK and doesn't like it when the display fails to respond (well at least it didn't used to, I've not used a GLK for a long long time).

...USB is probably best but you can connect the the parallel port if you want - just cut off the daughterboard MO controller (connected by 16 pins to the LCD's controller board) and wire a parallel port connector and power to the 16 pins as you would any normal // lcd, see http://forums.bit-tech.net...

As jar says the main issue is power, I thinkt he 20x4 might even use more than the 500mA USB max :(

So MO will probably have to make drawing power from a separate power connector mandatory for the vk204 USB controller... though I'm sure they'll make one (eventually).

I think there's a very good reason why there are so few GPO's on mo's graphic displays... I guess they ran out of I/O's on the PIC they used. There was supposed to be a new version of the glk's out (a while back!) so perhaps they'll use a different controller which allows for more? Here's hoping :) ...
