Remember though, you could custom make a lead, as Serial will only use two cables. So you could use CAT5, with two cables for signal, two for 5V and 1 for ground...or similar And you could get a plug end for it for the external box, and then split it off at the PC. I've done this before and it works...

By the looks of things the controller was slightly improperly programmed due to a corrupt file. Thus it was unable to address the first couple of display blocks.

I beleive the display is only meant to run at 19200 baud

Why would you want to set it differently anyway

The thing is, they already make VFDs, and I doubt that it would be cost effective for them to make such a display; most people will want 2x20s

Besides this, Matrix Orbital's primary business is not making VFDs and LCDs for PC's anyway...

The USB displays do not need to be connected to anything other than the USB port, unless your using the high power GPOs

Hi,

The silver face plate is bare aluminium...it has no keypad.

The Black keypad does work, and is the usual 20x2 bay insert. You can buy this seperately from the MO site

Have you got an eCD......the manual is stored on that. Plug the display in, and windows 2000/XP should prompt you for drivers.
