i want one of those displays but if i have to buy a serial one i have to get a usb converter to serial, and i rather have a direct usb instead would save me a lot of trouble

ahh, intresting Veloz 240x64 pixels, and the 20 for keypad? or gpo?, would be cool with a big lcd like C**********z have, anyhow i do prefer matrixorbital though, but would be a killer to have 2 full 51/4" bays with an big lcd screen that can show big pictures etc, would be awesome to run a htp...

time for intergrated usb interface on the lcds i think, time to go forward, usb is everywhere now, heck use both, i would rather spend more money on the lcd then to have to buy an "bulky" seral-> usb interface and almost every motherboard has usb headers onboard so much easier to use in in...

use a graphics lcd and use a charset that fills the screen with 3 rows only?

hopefully you have a motherboard with a
com 2 internal connector, use the internal-> external connector direct on the lcd..
no ugly cable going back into case from outside....
