It's normal - when windows boots, it does something with the COM ports and spits a whole load of crap down it. These show up on you're display. I get it on my VK-204-25. As soon as LCDC fires up, it cleard the display and away you go.

You can use this calculator over at Bit-Tech:

If you supply it with the correct details, it'll tell you what value resistor you require.

Hmm - don't know... Looking at the manual ( http://www.matrixorbital.com/manuals/vk20425/index.htm ) It says that the positive pins of the GPO's are connected to the positive rail of the display. Therefore if you feed it 12v (in the case of the wide power version), the GPO's will output 12v. However...

You can make a VFD look even more blue by dropping a filter in front - Either one of the blue glass MO ones, or like I did, a peice of blue lighting gel sheet (the stuff they put in front of disco lights). <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: GreatOldOne on 2002-07-08 05:28 ]</font>

I don't think any of the VFD's have high power GPO's....

I have a VK204-25-V. It's the wide voltage version, which allows you to run it off 12V.

I like the look of the VFD, but I also like the high power GPOs on the LK204-25pc. I still have a few days to decide though. I'm pretty sure that Henry hinted that the VFD with lo...

Why not make your own - I did! http://www.lcdforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=500&forum=9&6 http://www.bit-tech.net/article/89/ Lot more fun than just buying something, and you can guarentee that the aluminum matches your case, as you can get different shades / brushing pattern etc etc....

Make sure that you have that latest MBM5 plugin for LCDC. The shared memory structure changed with the latest release of MBM, and if you're running different levels of code you won't see anything!

LCDC is worth every penny - it's the best thing out there at the moment. It so feature rich & stable, it could be sold for twice what Mat-d-Rat's asking...

Download the software and try it (free 30 day license). Once you've seen it in action, you'll be reaching for you're wallet!
