This circuit could work, IF you swap around emitter and collector from what I could tell (have no means to test it here...). For a PNP-transistor to open, base has to have a lower potensial than the emitter, which it will not get in this circuit. JohnCox: If you haven't gotten any further, you could...

Re: GPO "connectors"

I'm looking for someplace that sells like, a 2 pin connector that fits nicely onto the GPOs and also a 10 pin connector that fits on the keypad. I'm not sure what they're called. Pin headers maybe? basically what you would find on the end of a computer power led to connect onto the motherboard. I w...

If all these drawings are correct, this circuit will not work (as you have found out...). The GPO in the drawing a couple of posts up, is basically an open-collector output, i.e. you need something to pull it up when it is switched off. Shorting the GPO, would do this and because of the limiting res...

If you are sending the mail from one of the addresses listed further down, that is the the reason... Copied from MO's site: Matrix Orbital will refuse e-mail from the following list of sources. These servers have been commandeered by spammers and we have simply "had enough". If you normall...

Sure it does... :) I used it with Opera 6.05 and it works (although probably not just as expected), just have to select which browser I want it to identify itself as...

You could use the same principle I used for the IR-to-keypad-circuit I made earlier. It used 4066s as switches and they can be controlled by TTL, should be... :)

I guess one of the other reasons are that the SDK is (I think) freely available, while there isn't any for MusicMatch... I also prefer MM, but without LCDC-support... :( I sent a mail to MusicMatch a while ago asking if they were planning to release a SDK (or if they would write a plugin for LCDC :)...

Looks like it's only for parallell LCDs (HD44780-compatible).

Finally had the time to make a board-file. As I said, it ain't pretty, but unless I have made any errors it should work. The top layer (red tracks) are wire links. The image-file wasn't very good, but it should be possible to use it. And they're seen from above. The .brd-file is an EAGLE board-file....

I think the reason the GPO didn't blow up is because it lasted very short. I had to put it to Fast Min/Max to catch it, otherwise it would only show about 0.22A. Min/Max needs a pulse of 50ms or longer to catch it, while Fast Min/Max can catch it down to 250uS. I was planning to check the duration o...

Don't think so since I use the normal ones all the time. I just extend them with another set of leads plugged into the connector on the first set of leads.

Maybe it's just the small resistance extra in the second set of leads that does it..? :)

Tested with a Fluke 189 set to Fast Min/Max and it measured 4.9A peak! But the strange thing was that the CC stayed on. I used some longer leads to be able to measure this and also without the meter, the CC stayed on. Took off the extra leads and the CC just flashed again. If I put the longer lead b...

Probably wont be a good pcb drawing.... :) The problem isn't that the schematic is very complex, the problem is to get the "switches" in the matrix, so probably the board will have several links (or have to be doublesided :(). I'm also more of a tech than engineer, so I think we're in the ...

Installed the third CC yesterday and put it on GPO3 and had exactly the same result as Mask666. It came on for about half a second, then turned off. But it obviously drew too much current because at the same time the whole display dimmed. Hmm, guess I have to make some driver-thingy for it... :) Edi...
