desoldering the LCD from the control board
not sure I had ever seen anybody try this, but I want to desolder the LCD on my MX6 series from the control board. The reason is that I want a very thin installation for the LCD, and will run leads back to the controller board to be located nearby. Would something like 10 inches 26ga wire be enough,...

nope, when I tried the Mini 5pin, it worked just perfectly, and using a leftover cable and crimping the motherboard end was a lot easier to test than soldering the 4pins onto the MO unit. However, the solder points look empty, so putting a pin in there should be easy unless it could short anything o...

GX Typhoon Closeup pics removed from Mounting Bracket-56K+
If, for some reason, MO doesn't want these pics up, that is up to them. I find it a bit odd they don't have a User manual or anything up yet, but for those interested, here are some Macros of the Typhoon "naked" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v160/Dgephri/GX%20Typhoon/GXTyphoonbackside0...

(sarcasm) see? Not only is Ray going to work on it, but Henry uprooted him, his wife, and their 35 foster children, moved them all the way to Calgary, and is starving him until the work gets done! FYI: I don't know if Ray is married, or has foster children, or eats...so ignore everything else and ge...

Fixes Master Thread?
Henry, could we get a collection going of 'Known' and 'high priority' related issues and fixes that MO is already working on? I would say the IR/MCE issue that alentsa was asking about would be near the top of my interest list as I intend to install Vista Premium and use the MCE features, but in XP ...

In my experience, this happened on the previous Matrix Orbital (my MX2, MX5, and MX6) units whenever your particular motherboard kept power to the 5V line on the USB. With LCDC I would just tell it to turn the backlight Off on Shutdown. I am confident we will get Color and Backlight control in LCDSt...

I noticed the same thing, and although I haven't separated the PCBs from the mounting tray yet, I imagine it's some sort of protective mask around the IR port/mount. This unit is attached to the faceplate alot better than the previous generation of MX units (just four bolts on the old ones IIRC). Le...
