Uhmmz, well this is embarrassing, it seems like IOCTL_GET_DEFAULT_CONTRAST got defined, but didn't get implemented which is why it's failing on you. I'll make a note to get this implemented, but it might be a bit before that'll happen, sorry about that.

Ever since the 2011 update, driver-core is no longer used, a normal windows driver with an IOCTL interface is used now so calling it from C++ should not be an issue. The board seems to have issues talking to the SD card, make sure the SD card is properly inserted and the sd card holder is in the locked position.

Thats vb.net though, vb6 got released in 1999, microsoft's official support ended somewhere in 2005. You might be better off learning vb.net instead since thats still a supported product.

No driver core is no longer needed, but since media portal was written against it we supplied a compatibility dll that makes media portal happy with the new drivers. You can safely remove DriverCore completly.
